Scuba Diving: guided immersion in Syracuse

In the splendid setting of the coast of Syracuse and of the Plemmirio Natural Reserve, you will live the emotion on a guided immersion in one of the richest and most diversified underwater sites in Eastern Sicily. The sea bottom hosts parts of ancient urns, anchors and a number of remains from different eras. In the deepest layers live of the seabed several kinds of species such as big tunas, snappers, great amberjacks, dolphins and you could also bump into a school of barracudas, and seabass or even the very rare black stone bass.

With a flat tide you will also be able to see interesting biostructures similar to small coral barriers. The AMP Plemmirio has officially become a protected area of the Mediterranean area thanks to the importance its biodiversity conservation has in the basin of the Mediterranean Sea.

After a brief introduction and after getting dressed, you will board on a dinghy and depending on the weather conditions for the day you will be directed to the immersion point that the instructor will choose. The duration of the immersion is of about 1 hour. The diving center will give you the necessary equipment you need (ballast, GAV, wetsuit, mask and dispenser).

You will be able to choose whether you would like to dive in the Plemmirio Natural Reserve or along the coast of Syracuse, outside of the protected area.

In order to take part in the activity you need to have a diving license. If you have an Open license you will be able to dive until 18 meters under water. If you have an Advanced or Rescue Diver or a Divemaster you will be allowed to go until 50 meters.
